Not a mock-up. The documents below are produced by the pricing engine from its own test fixtures — the same figures, the same wording and the same layout a customer receives. They are shown at full size, because that is the size they are written for.
Subcontract · CIS and the domestic reverse charge
The one most quoting tools get wrong. No VAT is collected because the reverse charge applies, so the customer accounts for it to HMRC and the document says so in words. CIS is deducted at 20%, and only from the labour — materials are excluded at cost, which is the HMRC rule and the part that is usually missed. The UTR is on the document because a contractor needs it to verify the deduction.

Why these are worth looking at closely
- The tax was asked, not assumed. Whether the reverse charge applies, and at what CIS rate, comes from questions answered while the quote is built — never inferred from the job description.
- The figures reconcile. The line totals, the deduction and the amount payable are the same arithmetic the customer can do on the page. Nothing is rounded to look tidy.
- Everything a dispute needs is already written down. What is excluded, what the price assumes, when each payment falls due, and how long the price stands.
